Dr. Liu's Research Group receives NSF Award

Dr. Yingmei Liu’s research group has received a three-year award (September 2022-August 2025) from the National Science Foundation (NSF). This research project will implement 3D highly-programmable quantum simulator using a sodium Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) and experimentally demonstrate that this quantum simulator can be more powerful than its classical counterpart in studying intricate many-body systems. BECs are ultra-cold gases in which atoms become essentially indistinguishable from one another, allowing for observations of quantum behaviors at a macroscopic level. This NSF award also provides generous support to involve undergraduate and graduate students in experimental research projects. Motivated students majoring in Physics and Photonics please send your inquiry to Dr. Liu directly.
