OVERVIEW

The OSU Radiation Dosimetry Laboratory is dedicated to advancing the field of luminescence dosimetry through quality research and education. Our research interests range from fundamental investigations on the properties of luminescence materials to applied fields such as medical dosimetry, luminescence dating, personal dosimetry, neutron dosimetry, space dosimetry, etc.

The OSU Radiation Dosimetry Laboratory has contributed to fundamental and technical advances in the areas of Thermoluminescence (TL) and Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) dosimetry. In the case of OSL dosimetry, some of the main contributions include:

The development of a dosimetry system based on the Pulsed OSL (POSL) technique currently licensed by Landauer Inc. and used in their personal dosimetry service.
The characterization of OSL detectors for space dosimetry leading to their use by NASA for their crew and area radiation monitoring.
The development of a new neutron-sensitive OSL dosimeter currently being adopted by Landauer Inc.

Our research group includes undergraduate students, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows with a diverse background and experience, leading to a dynamic environment that stimulates creativity and team work. In addition, we have a worldwide network of collaborators from the academia, national laboratories, and private sector.

If you are interested in learning more about how to join our research group, please check the link for Future Students.
