The Radiation Dosimetry Laboratory is located in the Venture I building, at the Oklahoma Research and Technology Park. The laboratory is well-equipped to perform the luminescence and dosimetric characterization.
Equipments available are:
Three automated Risø TL/OSL readers capable of performing automated sequences of TL and CW-OSL measurements using various stimulation sources. The reader have the following characteristics:
"Cleetus": Risoe TL/OSL-DA-15 with green LED stimulation (~10 mW/cm2) or IR LED stimulation. Light from a halogen lamp can also be used to stimulate the samples using appropriate filters. "Cleetus" has a built-in Sr-90/Y-90 source delivering a dose rate of the order of ~100 mGy/s.
"Prometheus": Risoe TL/OSL-DA-15 with blue LED stimulation and IR laser stimulation. "Prometheus" has a built-in Sr-90/Y-90 source delivering a dose rate of the order of ~100 mGy/s, in addition to an Am-241 alpha source.
"Zeus": Risoe TL/OSL-DA-15 with blue LED stimulation (~50 mW/cm2) and IR LED stimulation. "Zeus" has a built-in Sr-90/Y-90 source delivering a dose rate of the order of ~100 mGy/s.
An Ocean Optics USB-2000 spectrometer can be used with the Risoe readers to measure the TL emission spectrum in the range from 230 - 800 nm.
Various POSL systems, including a portable POSL readers (green LEDs).
OSL strip reader for determining dose profiles (green LEDs)
Spectrofluorimeter Jobin-Yvon Fluorolog-3 equipped with a xenon lamp for photoluminescence studies.
Pulsed frequency doubled Nd:YAG lasers (532 nm), SR430 multichannel analyzers and photomultiplier tubes for lifetime measurements.
Radiation sources: 60Co gamma source, a 90Sr/90Y beta source, and a MoxtekTM Bullet X-ray tube (50 kVp).
Ancillary equipment, such as SR400 photon counters, photomultiplier tubes, high voltage power supplies, pre-amplifiers, pulse generators, an Oriel deuterium UV lamp, Newport power meter 1830-C and Newport 818-UV light detector.
Equipment for sample chemical preparation is also available, including fume hoods and sinks, high-precision scales, hot plates, ovens with microcontrollers, a planetary ball mill, and a pellet hydraulic press.
We have access to the OSU Microscopy Laboratory, a state-of-art multiuser facility also at Venture. The OSU Microscopy Laboratory is equipped with JEOL JXM 6400 Scanning Electron Microscope System and a JEOL JEM-2100 Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope, in addition to a confocal microscope and atomic force microscope. The laboratory is a multi-user facility. Service fees provide training and equipment time.
