RESEARCH INTERESTS
My major research interests concern the development of materials and methods for radiation dosimetry using luminescence techniques - particularly Thermoluminescence (TL) and Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL). My current activities include the development of OSL of Al2O3:C as a technique in radiation measurement. This combination of method and material has the ability to detect and measure <1 microGray of ionizing radiation and has potential applications in personal and environmental dosimetry. Applications and areas of interest include space radiation dosimetry (for astronauts), medical dosimetry (for radiotherapy), environmental dosimetry, geological dating (with special interests in developing potential methods for dating sediments on the surface of Mars).
