Quantum Optics and Quantum Information Science Group

Research Interests

The Quantum Optics and Quantum Information Science (QOQIS) group is led by Prof. Girish S. Agarwal who currently holds the Noble Foundation Chair. The group is expected to have very close ties with leading scientists at other institutions particularly Texas A&M University, University of Rochester, and international institutes like Max-Planck Institute for Quantum Optics. The main research interests of the QOQIS group concern
  • Coherent Control of Quantum systems
  • Propagation of Pulses through Nonlinear Media-Ultraslow Light, Superluminality
  • Control of Decoherence in Quantum Systems
  • Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics
  • Multiparticle Entanglement
  • Quantum Imaging
  • Quantum Optical Methods for Quantum Logic, Memory
  • Implementation of Quantum Algorithms
  • Reconstruction of Quantum States
  • Tomographic Determination of Scattering Potentials
  • Nanomechanical Quantum Devices
